UPDATE FROM EVENT ORGANISERS:

Dear Riders, Sponsors and Supporters,

We have had to make the unfortunate decision to call off our Live Ride event this Sunday May 19, due to the state of the grounds around the Velodrome as a result of recent rainfall.

The safety of our riders, volunteers, vendors and attendees is paramount, and as much we have deemed there is a significant risk of getting so many vehicles in and out of the grassed areas safely.

Rest assured however that while the recent rain may have impacted our ability to safely hold the live ride, it cannot dampen our spirit, and Ride4Rotary will therefore continue in it's Virtual format!

Our ride will now be extended until Friday May 31st giving all of our Live participants 2 weeks to get out and ride, jog or walk at their own convenience, as well as the ability for people to register to ride, sponsor a rider / team or donate right up until this date.

We have eclipsed $47,000 in funds raised so far, but now it's up to all of us to continue to engage in the event, ride and fundraise in the hope of still reaching our $60K target for Southern Youth and Family Services (SYFS) and the terrific work they do in changing young people’s lives through their Education, Employment and Training Programs.

Ride4Rotary is an all-inclusive, family friendly, cycling charity event being held at the Unanderra Velodrome May 19!

The event is a partnership between Illawarra's Rotary Clubs and Southern Youth and Family Services (SYFS) with all proceeds assiting to fund SYFS Employment, Education and Training Programs.

SYFS is an Organisation that has the main purpose of supporting and caring for children, young people, adults and families who are disadvantaged, including those who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness and their families. This work provides supported accommodation, community social housing, counselling, mediation, support and the delivery of a range of programs to improve the life situation of children, young people, adults and families.

People can register to ride solo, start or join a team, as a business or family and participants can choose to ride Live at the Velodrome on May 19 or 'Virtually' meaning they can ride, walk or jog anywhere and anytime they like between May 1 - 19.
It's about encouraging everyone to get outside and exercise and live healthy lives with a focus on participation and involvement, not speed or distance travelled.

The Live event itself is a Family Fun Day featuring food and beverage stalls, a roaming magician, footy clinic, petting zoo and face painter as well as sponsor stalls and activities.
